# Credits: the fitted sounds

The bank's fitted sounds (`earshot/forge/bank/fit.json`, version `fit1`) are recipes measured from these
recordings on [Freesound](https://freesound.org). Every one is released under
[CC0 1.0](https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/) (public domain), which asks for no attribution; the
recordists are credited here anyway, with thanks. A fit stores the structure of a sound (modes, partials, band
envelopes), not its samples: no recording ships with earshot.

Chosen from 46 CC0 fits by measurement: fit grade high (CLAP to the recording >= 0.92 and mel distance within
2.5 dB of the model's own floor) and five takes that pass the take check at the shipped `vary`
([docs/SFX.md](SFX.md#fit-entries-from-public-domain-recordings)). Recordings whose title, author or page names a
commercial sound library were left out, whatever their stated licence. Adding your own: same page, "Add your own fit".
