About Hookova

Hookova takes a short-form video apart and tells you how its opening works — shot by shot, with the timings, so you can rebuild the technique instead of admiring it.

Everyone can see that a Short works. What’s hard is saying why — which cut bought the next second, where the promise was made, how long the viewer was asked to wait for it. Watching a clip forty times gets you an instinct. Hookova gets you a storyboard: every shot listed with its framing, camera and hook technique, and a recipe for shooting your own.

How a breakdown is made
1. Split the clip into shots

Scene detection walks the video and marks every cut. A shot held longer than three seconds is split again into one- to three-second sub-frames, and finer still across the opening three seconds — the stretch where a viewer decides whether to stay.

2. Pull one frame per row

Each row of the storyboard gets its own keyframe, plus the audio track. The video file itself is deleted as soon as the frames are out; only the stills are kept, so the report stays readable later.

3. Transcribe the audio

Speech-to-text over the whole clip, so the words are lined up against the frame they land on rather than guessed from the visuals.

4. Read it in one pass

The frames, the transcript and the timings go to a multimodal model together — not shot by shot. Hook technique depends on what came before it, so the analysis has to see the sequence, not a slideshow.

5. Return a storyboard you can shoot

Framing, shot size, camera move and hook technique per row, with the timing each one occupies — up to 60 rows, in about two minutes.

What we hold ourselves to
A failed run never costs a credit

Downloads break, platforms change, models time out. A credit is only spent on a report you can open and read — if the run dies anywhere before that, the balance is untouched.

The video is deleted, the stills are kept

We need the file long enough to extract frames and audio, and no longer. The clip is removed as soon as that finishes; the keyframes stay so your past reports don't turn into empty rows.

Three seconds to three minutes

Short-form is the whole scope. Below three seconds there's no sequence to analyze; past three minutes the format stops being a hook and starts being a video.

Instagram Reels is beta, public posts only

Instagram is the most hostile of the three platforms to automated downloading, so Reels fail more often than TikTok or YouTube. When one does, you keep the credit.

Who runs it

Hookova is a small independent project, not a company with a support department. One inbox, read by a human, usually answered within a couple of working days. If a report reads wrong, that’s the message worth sending — it’s the feedback that actually moves the analysis quality.

Three analyses are free, no card. or .
